Now it has been said that Korean chicks dig me especially when their eight but this is real funny. I have had a little girl named Mary in my class for some time and she was the one that told me that teacher was cute, remembers? well after some time all the little girls started saying it and when she went on the month long vacation little Wendy steps up to the plate .now I have Wendy making little heart shapes with her hands and telling me something Korean and flipping her hair at me and going on about how cute I am. well after Mary came back this didn’t go well with her, so she has been giving me the cold shoulder .My friend soc suggested that she was jealous which I thought was ridiculous but today I bought Mary a soda and told her that I was proud of her cause she had passed her level up test with a first place in her level at school which is pretty good. she seemed happy and back to her regular self so when we got back to class we worked through until the last 10 or 15 minutes then I play a game with them Simon says or hangman some thing like that .now the kids often crowd around me and poke me or hold my hand ,that kind of stuff, I look who is grabbing my hand and it is Wendy and she is trying to give me a hand massage Mary wants no part of this and sits down and wont play teacher says ,I ask "Mary why are you angry ?" she replies you love Wendy ,to which I respond I love all kids she say no and because of her limited English skills she stamps up to the podium and writes some thing in Korean on my note book, when I got back to the teachers room I asked my coworker what it said apparently she said that she knew what was going on and she was going to tell her mom! Wow I knew that I was hot but this is straight out of a prepubessic Dynasty.

As I mature

I have learned that you cannot make someone love you!
All you can do is stalk them and hope that they panic and give they give in!

Just like I thought, I have always thought there was something just a little off with all these Canadians here in Korea. I mean they look just like us but there is something insidious with their good manners and the friendly way they speak, they must be planning something. No one is that perfect. And after seeing this picture it all becomes clear!!!!!! They are spies those sneaky bastards, well no more Troy is on to ya!

Mom said I am just big boned

People are often writing me asking questions about Korea “ wow it must be very different “ well for sure you can go to some pretty impressive historical sites but when it comes down to brass tack the more I try and find the differences the more I find the similarities people go to work the spend too much on there kids. they often eat or drink too much or not enough. You fight with you wife, boy friend or family members. Until they are on the other side of the world. When you’re up in the mix of every day life it is sometimes hard to get perspective. I think that at this time in this place I am ment to be here I have no responsibility to any thing but my self which can be a blessing and curse. I don’t wake up until 11 am unless I want to which is great if you want to party all the time but when you spend that much time drinking soju and beer It kind of leaves you felling hollow in side . I think I can do some thing more productive with my time, I have been thinking of doing some volunteer work like teaching prison inmates English or giving up some time in an orphanage. Korea has a very high standard of living but on the other hand they have crushing poverty old people work until they are dead no retirement here the country has only been around for forty years. People some times give up there kids for finical reason and keeping up with the Jones is a national pass time where parents work 2-3 job so they can keep their kids in private schools for English, science ,math ,and music . These schools are very expensive and parents do not see their kids very much at all because every one is at school or work. in addition Korea national pass time is cosmetic surgery, oh didn’t you know that the often get their eye lids operated on to give them a more western appearance .laser of those freckles, straighten out those teeth I have a little girl in one of my classes she is missing her four front teeth she is only 7 years old and her parents have shelled out to put braces on the rest of her teeth. So she has only 4 braces on her teeth! But on the other hand she is stupid cute. Once again society decides the norm’s for the people living here much like in the U.S. so if you ask me how different it is not really people are basically the same all over the world ,my mother upon hearing this said she felt that the world really was smaller than we let our self believe some times. Maybe the old girl really dose knows everything, then again she still tells me I am handsome.

Gorge is a nightmare as a student but on the other hand he has a funny sense of humor. But he doesn’t have an interested bone in his body when it comes to English. Its kinda funny but I thought they were bored untill pulled out the camera,then they went nuts!

This is Annie she is pretty funny while she jumps on my lap and grabs my belly and says” wow pretty good” she is by far the smartest student I have and when the other kids (boys) start acting up she tears in to them in Korean and is generally the heavy in class so word to your muthers don’t mess with the class Aujma (little mother)

Most of these kids will level up to the next class so for most it will be good bye so it is very possible that some will make it to my intermediate class but probably not. This is my favorite class

I have doted over my kids on several occasions, but here we go again, this is Linn on the left she is one of my favorite students from my intermediate class and on the top is Sam and James trying to kill each other which is usually what they do in class but they are pretty funny guys even if they are not that industrious

What’s for dinner at Troy’s?

It has been punishingly hot so I didn’t want to cook and much like any other self respecting bachelor I went to the convince store for dinner. Let’s see on the menu from right to left, that’s sweet glazed chicken (chicken nuggets Korean style) Bop (rice)
Two kinds of Kim chi the regular cabbage kind and some made from some kind of greens and what’s that its Kim(seasoned seaweed sheets)I eat seaweed at least twice a week. A small soda and a big beer excellent selection sir.

5. staring at Troy (I went to the YMCA with my friend and his kids to go swimming forget that immediately I was surrounded by at least 8- 15 kids everyone wanted to know many various things like how old are you, where do you come from , do you have a girl friend ,what is that stuff on you arm(tattoos) why are you here .you get the idea my friend soc thinks I should carry an autograph book)

7. star craft (they love this game even thought it is ten years old I have basic cable and there is 2 channels dedicated too it )
8. service (free stuff every where you go there is some thing you can get for free the guys at the produce market kick you down free oranges or the restaurant gives free snacks or whatever )
9. small white dogs (there every where then they dye the ears and tail some strange color like pink or orange………….. poor dogs)
10. promotional models (for everything open a restaurant there better be some honeys out front with a bull horn or want to promote some food product at the market better get some hotties in thigh high boots to sell your frozen pizza)

VACATION

It has been said that Korean love their vacations I don’t know if that is true but Troy love's Korean vacation! I have just had five days and I am quite disturbed that I’m being forced to go back to work! I went to the coast with my official unofficial Korean family, then I went to Soule with three pretty girls and the next three days became a special event as in to addition to two friends getting engaged it was my good friend Melisa’s birthday which pretty much became one party after another I took a ton of pics so ere we go a ton of pictures
